Hi All

Sign up sheets for Tommorrow's sign up surgeries with Lorenzo have been posted on the notice board. Sign up for a morning or afternoon slot and see Lorenzo to book a time and place to meet.

FINAL PRESENTATIONS

Sign up sheets for wednesday's final presentations of your Motion Graphics work have been posted on the noticeboard. Please sign up for a session by the end of tuesday and make sure that you book a time that does not clash with any other timetabled event.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Hi All

Just a couple of reminders

1. Please can you sign up for your Crits on tuesday/wednesday. These are compulsory and there are still a considerable number of you who have yet to sign up.

2. The college is open on saturday between 10 and 4. It looks like Mac Suite 203 will be open (not 202) I would suggest you use this time for asset preparation, documentation and developing the iweb part of the brief.

3. There will be iweb support sessions and prioritised access to 202 for ou on the next two wednesday's. Lorenzo will be available to help you with any iweb issues. Can you please make sure you use these sessions as the mac suite staff are not in a position to support iweb.

4. Next weeks assessment briefing will take place at 3.30 on wednesday 4th February to avoid any clashes with crits or ppd tutorials.. All students must attend.

We will be going on a field trip this week to the FRAZER IRVING talk. This is not optional as it is something will benefit you greatly later in the module.

The session will start at 2pm and finish at 4pm as usual.

Tutorials will last 30 minutes and you will need to bring your current portfolio with you as well as any concerns, questions or progress made with your work placements.

GOOGLE CALENDAR PROBLEMS

Hi All

We will be taking Google Calendar offline today to sort out a couple of issues that have arisen with updating and access of the 2nd year calendar. I personally think that technology as over heard me telling people that you can't trust it and its dishing out some payback.

Anyway the updated calendar should be up and running by the end of today. Can you please check your critical studies sessions over the weekend to make sure you know when you need to attend.

Just to confirm that your next seminar I & E seminar will be on either the 9th or 11th of february (sign up as you did for the last ones).

OPTIONAL MODULES

OUGD104 DESIGN – COMMUNICATION THROUGH TYPE

This module will focus on the development of higher-level Typographic/Layout skills and a deeper understanding of the principles of communication through type.

Building on your existing understanding you will focus on the mechanics of type and the organisation of typographic hierarchies, technical vocabulary and the rules/conventions of type.

You will work predominantly in Quark Express and develop a critical appreciation of the application of type through Type Journal.


OUGD105 IMAGE - DRAWING AS PRACTICE

This module will focus on the development of higher level Image Making skills and a deeper understanding of the principles of communication through image.

You will focus on issues relating to visual translation, composition, sequential thinking and narrative as themes for image base investigation. An investigation of drawing/image making in its broadest sense will allow you to develop a more individual understanding of this aspect of your own design practice through the use of notebooks, sketchbooks etc.

You will be encouraged to choose and use appropriate media in the investigation of your own personal responses to the problems set. These may include drawing media, photography, digital media and moving image.

Can you make sure that you have access to a digital camera for the next couple of weeks and that you bring it to all the sessions.

TIMETABLE CHANGES

We have made some key changes to the Module timetable. These changes will affect the next three weeks an are aimed at freeing up time and help you manage your projects more individually. Please check google calendar and the notice boards for further information.

I will go through the changes during tuesday morning briefing.
